The Department of French and Italian offers a PhD and MA in Italian Studies. More information on the MA can be found on the French and Italian Master of Arts page.

Faculty in the Department of French and Italian are committed to the interdisciplinarity study of Italian film, literature, culture and language. Faculty have a great depth and breadth of expertise, particularly in:

  • Film studies
  • Medieval and Renaissance culture and literature
  • Linguistics
  • Modern and contemporary literature

In addition to a major specialization in Italian, students complete a minor outside of Italian. Such an innovative structure strongly supports interdisciplinarity. Students can interact with programs such as:
