Application fee waivers

Ohio State works with a variety of programs that provide fee waivers to applicants, and also manages several of its own programs. You can check your eligibility by selecting from the waiver programs in the drop-down below.

International students are not eligible for application fee waivers.

To request a waiver

  1. Check the box in the Application Fee Waiver section of your admissions application (Ohio State's regular or supplemental application) indicating the program for which you qualify.
  2. Complete and submit your admission application. You will not be asked to pay the application fee.
  3. Most waiver programs require additional actions. Select your waiver program from the drop-down below and follow the instructions.

If your waiver request is denied, you will be asked to return to your admission application and pay the application fee. Processing times vary. For most programs, you will receive an email response regarding the outcome of your request within three to five business days.

Fine print: Please read!

  • Take the required actions for your fee waiver request well in advance of your program's application deadline to allow for processing. If there are fewer than 10 business days left, we recommend you do not request a fee waiver. Here's why: If your waiver is denied and your program's deadline has passed, the application will be closed and you will not be able to apply for admission.
  • We will not review your admission application until your waiver is approved or the application fee is paid.
  • All waiver requests will be verified.
  • Only one fee waiver is permitted per academic year.
  • The application fee is NONREFUNDABLE. If you pay the application fee, even if in error, we can no longer honor your fee waiver request.
