International Funding source and definitions

These are funds that you provide from your bank account.

Submit a bank statement on official stationery that includes:

• Your name as account holder
• The bank name, location and institutional contact information
• Currency type
• Amount on deposit and available for withdrawal; this must be enough to meet all estimated expenses for you and your eligible dependents (statements showing an average or estimated deposit will not be accepted)
• A date of issue within 12 months of the date you will begin in-person study in the U.S.
• Official English translations

If submitting a personalized bank letter in lieu of a bank statement:

• It must be signed and dated by a bank official in addition to the bank statement guidelines stated above.

We cannot accept loan applications or loans in pending or conditional status.

If submitting proof of an educational loan in lieu of a bank statement, submit a letter on official stationery from your lender that includes:

• Confirmation that the loan is approved and/or sanctioned
• Name of the loan recipient
• Amount and terms of the loan

Funds that will be supplied from the bank account(s) of your parents, family members or friends.

Submit a bank statement on official stationery that includes:

• The account holder name

Includes scholarships and appointments from your academic program or another unit at Ohio State.

Submit a copy of your official award letter(s). Award letter(s) must be on university letterhead.

If your scholarship does not cover 100% of the estimated cost of attendance, you will be required to submit additional proof of support in the amount of the shortage.

Submit a copy of your official Tender of Financial Award, signed by yourself and university representatives.

If government or agency support is less than annual estimated expenses, you will be required to submit additional proof of support in the amount of the shortage.

Submit a letter of guarantee, on official stationery and addressed to The Ohio State University, that includes:

• Name and address of the sponsor
• A date of issue within 12 months of the date you plan to begin in-person study in the U.S.
• Your name, major and degree objective
• Duration of the scholarship
• Details of support that include full coverage of tuition and fees, living expenses, books, and health insurance
• Signed and/or stamped by an authorized representative of the organization
• Assurance that living and health insurance expenses for dependents are covered in addition to your own

Funds from your employer’s company.

If employer support is less than annual estimated expenses, you will be required to submit additional proof of support in the amount of the shortage.

Submit a sponsorship letter on company stationery that includes:

• Name and address of sponsor
• A date of issue within 12 months of the date you plan to begin in-person study in the U.S.
• Your name, major and degree objective
• Duration of the scholarship
• Total amount available for tuition and fees, living expenses, books, and health insurance
• Whether your salary will be continued during your studies and, if so, the monthly amount
• Signed and/or stamped by an authorized representative of the organization
