The Consumer Sciences Program offers both PhD and MS programs that can prepare you to significantly and positively impact consumers within our global economy.
The graduate program core covers research methodology; theories and models in consumer sciences; the behavior of households, families and consumers in the market; and the global consumer marketplace.
Degrees are offered in three concentrations:
- Family Resource Management focuses on the allocation of financial and other resources to achieve the goals of the consumer.
- Hospitality Management focuses on the examination of contemporary topics (e.g., service management, marketing strategies, consumer behavior, technology, social media, aesthetics, sustainability) in the hospitality, tourism, and service industries.
- Fashion and Retail Studies focuses on the investigation of textiles and clothing products and their use by consumers from historical, behavioral and social-psychological perspectives. You will study body image, appearance management behaviors, or consumer responses to phenomena in the retail sector.
