About us
The post baccalaureate certificate program offered in the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences is designed for students who:
- have earned an undergraduate degree outside of HIMS
- are interested in becoming a nationally registered health information administrator (RHIA) and work in the business aspect of health-related services
Students who successfully complete the certificate program are eligible for the American Health Information Management association's national certification examination to obtain their RHIA credentials.
The Post Baccalaureate Certificate in HIMS requires the completion of all prerequisites and program requirements for professional credentialing. Although the professional curriculum is in person and completed in sequence, students may complete the coursework on a part-time basis. However, there is no provision for evening-only enrollment. In addition to the professional coursework, the program includes six weeks of a professional practice experience in the final semester of enrollment. Since this is not a degree program, students are not required to complete general education requirements.
